POSITION SUMMARY:
Directs, coordinates and oversees the business financial management activities of UT Physicians, including procurement, real estate and contract fiscal management and decision support.


POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Provides oversight of business and financial management activities for UT Physician, including budgeting, cost management, real estate and facilities management, purchasing/expenditure compliance, asset management and contract fiscal management.

2. Plans, develops and implements, in coordination with UTHealth Finance and Administration, procedures to efficiently meet the financial goals of UT Physicians.

3. Identifies cost optimization opportunities and makes recommendations to executive management.

4. Participates in the preparation of UT Physician’s annual budget. Following approval of the budget, establishes and monitors the cost/ revenue centers, distributes financial information to leadership monthly, and counsels department heads on financial performance.

5. Recommends fiscal policies and procedures to executive management; develops and implements policies and procedures relating to the business and financial services areas to ensure maximum levels of internal control. Has authority to interpret existing UTP policy and procedures while working within federal, state, UT System and UTHealth guidelines.

6. Primary liaison to UT Physicians’ financial auditors.

7. Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection; hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.

8. Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded; financial, real estate and facilities management information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.


CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

Organizational Requirements


MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration. MBA preferred.


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Eight (8) years of management experience in complex financial and administrative operations, preferably in a higher education setting.
