The Sleep Tech performs polysomnographic studies on adult and pediatric patients, while ensuring the highest level of patient care.

General Job Responsibilities


Performs routine and intermediate level polysomnograms including accurately placing electrodes on the patient for appropriate montages Recognizing technical, mechanical, and patient induced artifacts and taking steps to eliminate them Intervening promptly, appropriately and calmly to respiratory, cardiac and other emergencies Maintaining a professional approach to patient instruction, preparation and procedure discontinuation to maintain the patient’s feeling of ease and acceptance Performing appropriate equipment and physiological calibrations both pretest and posttest Performs CPAP titrations on both adult and pediatric patients, including accurately titrating CPAP levels to the patient’s overall condition and appropriately documenting these levels for scoring and interpretation of the study Maintains inventory of consumables and participates in the maintenance and cleaning of equipment as necessary Explains procedures to patients prior to conducting studies Demonstrates familiarity with advanced technical analysis of polysomnographic procedures Performs technical interpretations of routine and intermediate level procedures by both hand and computer analysis Coordinates and organizes supplies, equipment and instruments needed for Sleep Lab procedures Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities Orients and mentors new staff members Perform other duties as assigned


General Job Requirements


High School Diploma or equivalant is required RPSGT, RT, CRT or RRT certification is preferred but not required Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinical sleep facility is required
