Administrative Assistant, Medical Records
General Description:
Manage Iowa City Hospice’s medical records; ensuring patient information can be accessed in a timely manner by the staff.
Supervision
Receive supervision from Executive Director
Schedule: Monday through Friday; 9 AM to 1 PM [flexible but must be morning] and availability for holiday rotations coverage is required.
Employment Status: Non-Exempt
Essential Job Functions (including but not limited to):
1. Responsible for management of medical records, filing, copying, scanning and uploading into our medical software system.
2. Ensure access to medical records to the ICH staff in a timely manner.
3. Provide backup coverage to the front office staff, answer phone calls and greet walk-ins.
4. Provide the initial distribution of the mail.
5. Assemble weekly staff newsletter.
6. Ensure the medial record area is clean and efficient for staff to use.
7. Perform administrative duties to support Iowa City Hospice’s care.
8. Ensure effective use of resources.
9. Serve as an educational source to staff, care partners and community.
10. Ensure implementation of strategic goals
11. Adhere to the practice of confidentiality regarding patients, families, staff and the organization.
12. Participate in Iowa City Hospice’s success by ensuring access to our exceptional care.
13. Support and promote Iowa City Hospice’s mission to lead in providing exceptional patient-centered end-of-life care and grief support to anyone affected by a terminal illness.
14. Participate in the organization’s quality assessment and performance improvement program.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
