Responsibilities include providing customer service that typically involves receiving and handling callers’ inquiries and/or complaints and responding to information requests. Duties involve explaining programs, services, policies and/or procedures. The incumbent dialogues with the customer to obtain needed information, clarify what is desired, and/or determine how service can best be rendered. The incumbent provides information that requires understanding and an application of established policies, programs and procedures. At times the incumbent will be exposed to and be required to deal with angry and/or irate customers . Work is performed under general supervision, requiring a moderate degree of independent judgment.
Who may apply: This position is open only to regular and temporary employees currently on the King County payroll.
Work location: This position is located at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent but the incumbent may be required to work at other Superior Court locations.
Work schedule: This is a full-time position working a 35-hour work week. Work schedule is normally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Job Duties:
The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level:
Answer telephones and/or personally greet customers.
Provide program-specific information that requires interpretation of established policies, procedures and other relevant sources to internal and/or external customers over the telephone, in writing and/or in person.
Interview and/or screen internal and/or external customers to establish program specific documentation and/or identify services needed.
Perform research on data bases or internet; determine validity, correctness and completeness of information received.
Maintain and/or retrieve information and compile data that may require information searches through files, contracts, records, microfilm, blueprints, maps, or computer files.
Perform data entry (may vary according to position assignment). Maintain and update information.
Handle multiple-step transactions such as receiving and/or issuing receipts, forms, cash and documents.
Draft, proofread and edit documents, contracts, and/or correspondence.
Provide general administrative assistance including but not limited to sorting and responding to mail, scheduling meetings, ordering department supplies, faxing, e-mailing and copying.
Assist co-workers as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
High school diploma or GED and one year experience performing general information processing sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job within this classification. Able to apply knowledge of specialized terminology pertaining to position assignment. Must have basic research skills. Must be organized and able to work independently and in a team environment; able to assess and prioritize tasks.
Experience in high volume receptionist/customer service work is preferred. Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of various software applications including Word, Access, Excel and Outlook are required. Court or legal office experience is desirable. Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in a professional manner and maintain good working relationship. Must be a team player with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and stressful environment. Must have excellent written and oral communication, time management and organizational skills. Excellent attendance and punctuality are requirements of this position.
In addition to the above qualifications, ability to speak Spanish at the conversational level is a bonus.

Finalists must successfully pass a criminal background check and reference check. Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license or the ability to travel through alternate means.
