Overview:
The Supply, Distribution, & Planning (SD&P) organization is responsible for supply optimization planning and scheduling the movements of light products and crude oil between various components of MPC including refining, marketing, pipeline, rail, marine, and terminals. The Crude Scheduling Department manages a 35MM barrel crude inventory system for seven refineries. SD&P must efficiently supply crude to the MPC refineries by using pipelines, ocean vessels and river barges to ensure a continuous supply of crude oil to our Refineries.
The successful applicant should possess sound interpersonal, communication and analytical skills. Tight deadlines require the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Responsibilities:
Interfaces daily with schedulers of pipeline companies to ensure as ratable crude supply as possible. Solving timing issues will be of paramount importance.
Interfaces with Crude oil traders to stay abreast of trading activity and be responsible for nominating secured crude oil to domestic pipeline companies for movement.
Responsible for identifying crude oil over and shorts in order to maintain each refinery system in balance and maintain to the extent possible, just-in-time inventory systems.
Coordinates crude oil movements with theRefinery Feedstock Coordinator, address queries fromaccountants and provide information as needed to other stakeholders in the process.
Develops schedules to evaluate, compensate and adjust operating factors and to evaluate supply, demand, and allocation related to crude.
Develops improved scheduling methods designed to better utilize company facilities and equipment, to reduce inventories and minimize transportation costs.
Negotiates with pipeline schedulers and dispatchers for appropriate timing, batch size and sequence of shipments and deliveries in order to spread and utilize the available inventory at refineries and terminals and to minimize handling costs and contamination.
Monitors inventories on a daily basis and adjusts shipping schedules to avoid runouts and containment problems.
Evaluates revised operating information and throughput forecasts and updates delivery schedules in response to these changes.
Since the individual is responsible for crude oil supply to a refinery system, requests can be made 24 hours/7 days a week that require monitoring and possible action.
Individual may be required to participate in two to three overnight trips per year.
