The salary for this position is $44,000 – $58,700

General Description and Classification Standards

Delivers employee development services to the staff of the City of Atlanta by Conducting training courses for

supervisory, management or nontechnical skilled employees in subjects such as: Microsoft Office, EEO/AA,

360’s evaluation procedures etc.

This is a highly experienced professional who routinely exercises project leadership over complex training

projects, trains other professionals and serves as a specialized subject matter expert in one or more specific

areas.

Supervision Received

Performs work under general supervision with review and advice from manager or a senior level professional.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Conducts supervisory, management or nontechnical skills (Microsoft Office, EEO/AA, 360’s etc.) training

courses for City staff.

Uses needs assessment tools to identify need for and to determine effectiveness of educational programs.

Interacts with functional organizations to develop specifications for content of courses.

Prepares lesson plans including the method, media and documentation to be presented.

Instructs participants in classroom lectures and/or in group sessions.

Conducts follow up assessments to determine effectiveness of course material presented.

Selects from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks

Provides guidance and training as required to lower level, interns, temporary employees, etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of adult learning principles, methods and best practices.

Knowledge of assessment tools.

Knowledge of testing methods.

Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.

Good planning and organizational skills.

Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Skilled in using A/V equipment.

Ability to deliver material in a creative and engaging manner.

Ability to interface with wide variety of skill levels.

Ability to develop and deliver more advanced training courses.

Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in teaching, Human Resources, Business or related field (Equivalent professional experience

may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis).

Minimum of 3 years’ of training experience in a similar role.

Preferred Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in teaching, Human Resources, Business or related field (Equivalent professional experience

may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis) with 3 years’ of training

experience).


Ability to facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, virtual training, and on-the-job coaching.


Familiar with Oracle.


Proficient in the use of an LMS (Learning Management System)


In depth knowledge of adult instructional, and learning theory principles.


Licensures and Certifications

None required. DDI and ASTD certification preferred.
