Community Partners International (CPI) is a U.S. based nonprofit organization that works with local partner organizations in Myanmar to expand access to quality health services and generate the resources, local capacity and coordination necessary for partners and the people of Myanmar to meet their own health and community needs. Our main office is in Yangon with field offices in Mae Sot (Thailand), Mandalay, Myitkyina, Hpa-An and Dawei.


CPI seeks a motivated leader to increase its profile and oversee fundraising efforts to support our programs. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing and building a community of philanthropists and corporate donors. The candidate will be involved in all aspects of daily fund raising activities, including leveraging strong contacts with Board members and network of supporters. The candidate will also represent CPI in the philanthropy community on the west and east coast. This position will be based in San Francisco, California, United States of America.

Reporting to this position: Marketing and Communications Manager


Primary Responsibilities
• Identify, connect and engage with potential donors including Board members, corporations, foundations, private banks and family offices
• Work to develop local marketing and communications materials for donors
• Manage donor, media and public relations efforts and opportunities to promote the organization’s programs and mission
• Develop and implement strategy for raising funds from donors in Asia
• Develop, implement and ensure progress toward short and long term fundraising strategy and goals
• Cultivate relationships with current and prospective funders and supporters, with focus on broadening CPI’s donor networks and raising unrestricted revenue
• Maintain oversight over all fundraising activities including major giving, grants, special events, direct mail appeals, corporate partnership initiatives and donor stewardship


Regular Responsibilities
• Produce public relations outreach products and opportunities
• Manage the organization’s marketing, messaging and communications, including creating a coherent “brand” for the organization that best reflects CPI’s partnership model and program strengths
• Develop and track fundraising proposals in view of closing donation agreements
• Lead the day-to-day stewardship of active donors on both coasts to ensure a high-level of customer support and service
• Supporting the CEO in the reviewing of grants budgets
• Book interviews and speaking opportunities for Epic Foundation’s executive team
• Create mass communications pieces
• Oversee the maintenance and expansion of the organization’s database of supporters
• Prepare annual and other reports as requested by the CEO
• Strategize on putting CPI on the philanthropy map including through the organization of special events
• Work closely with the CEO and Country Director on articulating and documenting a development strategy
• Establish and nurture existing relationships with philanthropy forums and think tanks


Partner Support
• Work with Program to oversee and monitor process of local organizations
• Assist with technical support and coordination with partner organizations, and provide advice on program and management as needed
Capacity Building and Supporting other Staff
• Supervise, set goals with and for, and reviewing the performance of staff managed
• Work closely with technical staff to write grant proposals


Operations and Administration
• Manage expenses for all fundraising, public relations and communications efforts
• Relay any recommended NGO and social enterprises to the Programs team of CPI
• Occasionally act as a local point of contact for the local NGOs and social enterprises


Organization Representation
• Build partnerships with private sector and family foundations to establish a privileged line of communication to promote CPI
• Occasionally participate in quarterly Board of Director meetings
• Serve as a representative of the organization, including cultivating relationships with partner organizations, community members, including prospective volunteers and supporters in order to build awareness of and commitment to CPI’s work


ESSENTIAL SKILLS
• Master’s degree in Communication or similar field
• At least 5-10 years’ experience in development and fundraising
• Experience in donor cultivation, grant writing, contracts management and/or special events
• Rain-maker with a proven track record to close deals
• Extensive network of contacts in CSR and philanthropy
• Track record in fundraising from large donors is highly valued
• Proven track record of raising funds from diverse sources, including major gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations and government agencies
• Knowledge of and connections to the funding community interested in Burma/Myanmar, and deep knowledge of the Burma/Myanmar context a plus
• Demonstrated commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes and a results-­‐oriented culture
• Strong interpersonal, supervision, administration and management skills
• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
• Strong ability to work with multiple offices and across diverse teams
• Literate in Microsoft Powerpoint, Word, Excel
• Passionate about communications and public relations
• Sound judgment, professionalism and a positive attitude
• Resourcefulness, creativity and strong problem ­ solving skills
