Position Description
Position: Program Manager
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Reports to: Executive Director
Position Purpose: The Program Manager plays a central role in the development and administration of the organization’s programmatic activities. The Program Manager works independently and collaboratively with staff to design and manage of all aspects of ongoing programs, including planning, staffing and controlling program activities in accordance with WCI’s core values and grant requirements. The Program Manager will participate in new program development and planning and support the organization’s grant writing and fundraising efforts. The Program Manager will have responsibility for the Liberia office. International travel required (less than 25%).
The Program Manager will have a hands-on approach in leading a variety of initiatives, including by not limited to;
Program Operation and Management (50%):
- Manage day to day activities for global programs to ensure quality and effective implementation of programs and projects, and timely completion of program deliverables.
- Lead the program by supervising program staff, providing direction and feedback.
- Manage program data collection, processing and analysis
- Develop workshop content, including training activities and materials, and serving as workshop trainer or facilitator.
- Control the program by ensuring it operates within the approved budget, and report actual cash flow and variance to Executive Director on a monthly basis.
- Write program reports as outlined in funding agreements
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation tools and systems to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas to modify and improve
- Support organization’s communications activities and social media platforms
- Ensure that program files are properly maintained, with forms and records to document program activities.
Program Development (50%):
- Develop grant applications and new programs through collaborative writing and editing
- Design, develop and implement program monitoring and evaluation systems and tools
- Assist in the recruitment process of trainers and staff as required including consultants and subcontractors
- Develop new initiatives and create new opportunities to support the strategic direction of the organization
- Identify and evaluate new in-county partners to expand programs globally
- Develop new ways to improve the organizations’ operations
- Other responsibilities as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
· Advanced degree in international relations, political studies, women’s studies, international development or related area of study.
· Four (4) years of program management, organizational development, or other relevant experience.
· Experience in conducting research and program development relating to empowerment of women in developing nations.
· Demonstrate qualitative and quantitative data analysis and report writing skills.
· Knowledge of federal grant policies and procedures, especially USAID and US DOS.
· Excellent writing and oral communications skills.
· At least 2 years of international experience.
· At least 2 years of experience in gender program initiatives.
· Proven ability to work independently, multi-task and complete assignments within tight deadlines.
· Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills.
· Proficiency in foreign languages.
