This is a non-sworn position has a primary focus on Fire data analysis with a secondary focus on Police crime analysis. Under regular supervision, performs difficult technical work involving statistical analysis, information systems queries and reporting.
Examples of Duties:
- Designs and develops custom reporting and map projects to address public safety management objectives.
- Analyzes public safety records management system incident data, CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) system call activity, and other data tables and sources as appropriate
- Develops and implements GIS data layers for mapping and spatial analysis
- Assists in the development and production of periodic statistical evaluations of administrative, planning and operational objectives
- Designs and codes reporting logic instructions and develops graphs, tables, and supporting documentation for internal and external requests, such as budget preparation, benchmark analysis, accreditation, ISO survey and grant applications and reporting.
Typical Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with major work in statistics, mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), economics, computer science or related field and some experience with databases. Knowledge of public safety operations helpful but not required. Requires analytical skills, thorough knowledge of statistical and mathematical methods to analyze and evaluate information systems and computer programs. General knowledge of the operations, uses and capabilities of computers, related equipment and software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Crystal Reports, and Geographic Information Systems software (ESRI ArcGIS) is desired, but not required. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and prepare technical reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, superiors, and other departments.
