United States of America: Knowledge Management Specialist, Evidence Team, ESI Project


The Dexis Consulting Group is recruiting for a Knowledge Management Specialist that will be embedded within USAID’s Office of Education and support specifically the Evidence Team.


The USAID Office of Education focuses on implementing the USAID Education Strategy, which has three major goals:


  1. Goal One: Improved reading skills for 100 million children in primary grades;

  2. Goal Two: Improved ability of tertiary and workforce development programs to generate workforce skills relevant to a country’s development goals; and

  3. Goal Three: Increased equitable access to education in crisis and conflict environments for 15 million learners.

The Knowledge Management Specialist is a member of the Evidence team within USAID/E3/ED and will report to the Evidence Team Lead.


This Knowledge Management Specialist is responsible for providing knowledge management and administrative support to the Evidence Team. In this role, s/he will primarily focus on knowledge management activities for the Evidence Team and overall education sector at USAID. Additionally, he/she will perform general administrative functions for the Evidence Team, such as managing communications, records, logistics, etc. In addition, s/he will assist and backstop personnel on all team functions.


Key Duties and Responsibilities


Knowledge Management Functions


  • Collaborate with EGEE/ED’s KM/Learning Advisor and Communications and Engagement team to implement the KM/Learning Strategy and increase the use of Education platforms, improve dissemination of knowledge/evidence products to USAID Education staff and increase staff participation in learning and professional development opportunities

  • Expand and update Education Toolkit navigation as necessary, informed by Google analytics use patterns and needs assessments/feedback from Education staff

  • Add to the toolkit regularly by providing updated Goal and Cross-Cutting pages quarterly, coordinating with Goal teams and COPs to identify content, systematically collect and curate knowledge products from external sources in collaboration with other E3/ED teams and COPs, with training and professional development events and related materials, including training delivered by Regional Bureaus

  • Assist in training (including all-staff workshops, provincial seminars and one-on-one guidance and troubleshooting related to Knowledge Management issues) to help establish “communities of practice”, disseminate program developments, best practices and achievements on a regular basis

  • Design and produce data visualization products (electronic and hard copy) related to Evidence Team functions (data, evaluation, evidence, professional development)

Administrative Functions


  • Organize and provide administrative support for USAID/Washington’s Education Sector Council technical sessions

  • Develop trackers and tables for planning, such as those outlining upcoming tasks and responsibilities, tracking milestones for evaluation design and implementation, or monitoring the activities aligned with the team in the education sector writ large

  • Support the Evidence Team with organizational, administrative and technical assistance to enhance team efficiency

  • Provide high-level administrative, workflow, scheduling and coordination support

  • Ensure external and internal meetings and conference calls run smoothly and effectively by managing invites and conference call details, organizing meeting logistics, preparing meeting materials, preparing minutes and actions, coordinating follow-up, and booking facilities

  • Coordinate travel arrangements as needed, including flight, accommodation, visa application and ground transportation

  • Assist in the preparation of meeting/briefing materials, including secondary data collection, preparation and assembly of materials

  • Document and track next steps on meeting outcomes and communications

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in international education, public policy and planning, public administration, business administration, economics, data analysis, organizational development and learning, knowledge management, communications, or related field required

  • Two to Five years of experience working in the area of education, data analysis, knowledge management, organizational development and learning, and/or communications, ideally some of which is overseas

  • Ability to resolve problems and execute assignments with minimum supervision

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word

  • Experience with Google Sites a plus

  • Strong business and technical writing skills
