Description : This position is responsible for receiving and processing requests for emergency/non-emergency assistance and to dispatch emergency medical, law enforcement, fire, or other agency resources.


This position requires 12-hour shifts, 5am-5pm or 5pm-5am. There is no shift rotation, however scheduled days rotate. The workweek consists of 3, 12-hour shifts and 1, 4-hour shift. The 4-hour shift is worked every Wednesday. This schedule allows to be off every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.


Qualified applicants must possess:


  • High school diploma or GED

  • Must be at least 20 years old

  • Must pass a multiple choice dispatcher examination; structured oral interview; polygraph examination; background check, physical examination and drug screening as conditions of employment

  • Must be able to work overtime, 12 hour shifts, nightshifts, weekends and holidays

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and must be insurable by the City’s insurance carrier
