Department Summary
The meter reading department is responsible for reading our customer’s natural gas and electric meters in a safe,
accurate and efficient manner.
Job Description/Responsibilities
This posting is fo the read territory of Battle Creek and is for full-time temporary (89 days) Meter Readers.
- Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record (3 points or less), be able to work outside in all
types of weather, possess and demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work with customers.
- The current starting pay is $21.01 per hour.
- This position requires driving your personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement. You must provide proof of insurance for
your vehicle and the coverage must meet or exceed the State minimum.
- This position requires 8-10 miles of walking and 60-80 miles of driving per day.
- Selected candidate must successfully complete an accuracy test after the first week of training to retain employment.
Requirements/Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must live in the Battle Creek area
- To be considered for this position you are required to attend a validated assessment to measure basic knowledge, skills
and abilities related to Meter Reading.
