We are looking for a dedicated individual to enhance the Global Operations team by assisting the internal communications needs with our more than 700 peacebuilders throughout the world and supporting various global communication efforts. The Internal Global Communications Intern will have the unique opportunity to gain experience in supporting the transformation of an international organization’s global operations and seeing the performance results of such efforts. The Organization
Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is an international nonprofit organization that promotes peaceful resolution of conflict. With headquarters in Washington, DC and in Brussels, Belgium, SFCG’s mission is to transform how individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict – away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. SFCG seeks to help conflicting parties understand their differences and act on their commonalities. With a total of approximately 700 staff worldwide, SFCG implements projects in 56 offices in 35 countries, including Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States.

Responsibilities
Intern duties are wide-ranging and may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Research effective strategies for internal communications.
Help coordinate the process for designing and rolling out a more effective internal communication strategy.
Work closely with senior managers to support them in various tasks regarding internal communications.
Offer support and ideas to all supporting areas of the organization such as, HR, IT, Finance to increase their effectiveness regarding their internal communications and organizational change management needs.
Support internal communication efforts around the organization’s strategic planning process.
Ensuring that all materials meet established company communication standards and obtain appropriate approvals within specified deadlines.
As internship descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will exhibit:
A junior, senior, graduate or postgraduate student, majoring in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
Basic HTML knowledge and experience with mass marketing email systems – for example: Mailchimp, VerticalResponse, Constant Contact or similar.
Basic knowledge in monitoring and reporting on audience engagement.
Knowledge and experience in strategic, change management, project, and/or internal employee communications efforts.
Demonstrates a passion for understanding strategic communications.
Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, basic graphic design software, and have the ability and comfort with adapting to new technologies.
Strong, hard-working work ethic.
Mature, pleasant and honest manner with a high degree of professional and personal ethics.
Excellent organizational skills with a proactive style and the ability to meet deadlines, both as instructed and self-imposed.
Self-starting, enthusiastic and flexible approach to the organization.
Ability to work well individually as well as a member of a team.
Strong people and presentation skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and implement tasks quickly.
Excellent attention to detail.
Excellent and professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Computer proficiency and experience with Internet research.
Highly developed research and problem-solving ability.
Desire to work in a nonprofit setting.
Basic video shooting and editing is a plus.
