JOB SUMMARY


T


he responsibilities for this entry level position includes contributing to the timely, accurate, and quality delivery of all mail related products & services to the Mississippi Power Gulfport service territory using cost-efficiency and best practices to ensure customer satisfaction. This definition includes exhibiting World-Class Customer Service, equipment operation, driving various courier routes, mail sortation, fulfillment of projects, postage metering and accountable delivery for our internal customers.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma / GED


Must successfully pass the SASS pre-employment test


Must currently have a valid MS driver’s license – Courier / Route Delivery


Must currently be able to safely lift up to 70lbs (on a frequent basis)


Perform all duties with a Safety first mindset / Observe established policies on safety


Must have the ability to safely operate a mail delivery van in the Gulfport area for up to 6 hours per day.


Candidate must be punctual / maintain good attendance.


Load vehicles with mail pieces/packages, ensuring goods are loaded correctly and taking safety precautions.


Unload and sort items collected along delivery routes.


Plan and follow the most efficient routes for delivering goods.


Deliver documents and packages (often confidential) for Gulfport service territory.


Sort items to be delivered according to the delivery route.


Record information, such as items received and delivered and recipients’ responses to messages.


Working knowledge of mail equipment and general knowledge of United States Postal Service regulations and commercial courier regulations would be helpful.


Basic knowledge of computing shipping and mailing rates.


Must have the ability to retain names, initials, titles, work locations of internal customers.


Must have the ability to make decisions and judgments as to the best way to send mailings.


MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides inter-office deliveries and pick-ups within various company facilities in the Gulfport service territory for four routes daily in a company vehicle.


Stays current on USPS and commercial courier regulations, sorts, posts and dispatches outgoing and incoming mail. Includes operation of postage meters and scales, as well as understanding and familiarity with various postage rates and regulations.

Drives company vehicle for up to 33 stops per day.


Performs physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.


Records information regarding incoming packages, certified mail, and other commercial mail courier items.
