Chemonics seeks a Washington, D.C.-based associate for the Employee Relations Department (ERD) of our Human Resources Division. The employee relations associate will support the ERD in its day-to-day work. We are looking for candidates who have experience in human resource management and interest in building their technical capacity in the discipline of performance management and employee relations. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
•Perform duties and responsibilities consistent with understanding of client requirements and of relevant policies and regulations, and within the quality standards set by the immediate supervisor
• Support internal clients by assisting and guiding them through ERD’s tools and systems and addressing their questions and needs promptly and accurately; research and recommend solutions to resolve a variety of issues
• Organize and maintain department paper and electronic files
• Work with human resources managers, director, and senior vice president in preparation of reporting and monitoring efforts
• Undertake assignments on projects or special initiatives
• Provide administrative support to ERD as needed
• Build capacity in the discipline of employee relations as it relates to Chemonics’ work
• Gain understanding of and contribute to the development of department materials
• Work with ERD managers on the following initiatives: Bring Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day, policy manual updates, corporate donations, maintenance of ERD-led intranet pages, staff care and wellness activities, milestone events, and invoices
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with clients, vendors, partners, and consultants that serve to enhance Chemonics’ work
• Effectively support staff by assisting and guiding them through ERD’s tools and systems
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
• Minimum one year of administrative and/or technically relevant work experience
• Human resources and international development experience strongly preferred
• Ability to promote integrity and dependability, and build trust at all levels within the company
• Independent thinking, professional judgment, respect for others, and managing discreet information and tasks with confidentiality required
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing
• Strong administrative and word processing skills and attention to detail
• Ability to follow standard practices and procedures, receive general instruction and supervision on work progress, and make significant contribution to end results
• Resourceful problem solving and initiative to learn new skills
• Ability to work on several initiatives at one time
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to travel and work abroad a minimum of four to eight weeks per year preferred
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required
• Experience living or conducting volunteer work in developing countries and foreign language proficiency preferred
