– 1600251 Description The Dow Chemical Company has immediate openings for an Hourly Solar Assembler located in Midland, MI . The purpose of this job is to provide for Dow Solar manufacturing and logistics operation. Job Description Candidate will rotate through a variety of manufacturing and logistics responsibilities each workday, including: Packaging operations including assembling packaging material, breaking the material down for recycle, loading customer orders, etc. Assembly tasks including manual operations to process parts through the plant. Contributes to a safe work environment. Other tasks as required. Description Starting salary is $12.00/hour and does include health benefits. Limited personal needs vacation days are available based on number of days worked. Work is conducted on a rotating shift schedule and may include weekends. Please note that this shift schedule may not accommodate a traditional school schedule, unless the institution offers on-line or other highly flexible class schedules. While there is not a guaranteed minimum of work hours on either a daily or weekly basis, a typical schedule consists of at least 40 hours per work week, with additional hours over 40 in a week being paid as overtime. This position is represented by United Steelworker, Local 12075. This job may not lead to full-time employment. **The Dow Chemical Company does not offer relocation if the position is offered to someone who lives outside the area or reimbursement for travel to and from test sessions or interviews. If you consider a position that is not within the area you reside you will be responsible for all cost that incur.** Qualifications Required Qualifications: Minimum of 4 years previous assembly experience in a manufacturing setting Must possess a current valid driver’s license Must be able to work all shifts on a rotating basis (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM) Must successfully complete a background check, a drug screen and physical capabilities test. Must be able to meet physical requirements of job, including, but not limited to, the ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, bend, push/pull in-process material handling carts, with or without reasonable accommodation. Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good interpersonal skills are required. Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills. Demonstrate leadership skills – inspire others and lead them through influence. A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks. A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, or Qualifying Asylee/Refugee).
