Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Imperial Regional Detention Facility in Calexico, CA. MTC provides all aspects of facility operations, including security, maintenance, administration, education, laundry, food, and medical services.
Essential Functions
1. Coordinate with staff on the receipt and analysis of gang information.
2. Monitor detainee files for investigative purposes.
3. Compile and analyze data to prepare reports and maintain related records.
4. Respond to emergencies and institution disturbances.
5. Supervise and conduct in-depth investigations of incidents which involve criminal activity within the facility. Establish rapport with federal, state, and local law enforcement.
6. Identify narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia.
7. Utilize proper search procedures to persons and property when checking for contraband items.
8. Assess and evaluate the facility’s security requirements; make appropriate recommendations for improvements or modification to the deputy warden.
9. Oversee the gathering of evidence and testimony. Establish case history of incidents and prepare comprehensive, timely, and efficient reports.
10. It is expected that the incumbent will work overtime, when directed to do so.
11. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
12. Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years experience in an adult correctional environment or related field required. One (1) year prior investigations experience desired. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of computer software applications, narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia, report writing, and gang related information preferred. STC and 832 certifications preferred. Fluency with the Spanish language desired. Valid driver’s license in the state of California with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
