JOB SUMMARY:
The Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) is seeking a qualified individual to perform complex clerical work regarding inmate records.


JOB DUTIES:


  • Verifies release eligibility in accordance with applicable state statutes prior to inmates’ actual release

  • Notifies proper authorities of release dates

  • Processes Sex Offenders Registration and notification forms in cooperation with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the ADC

  • Maintains data regarding inmates’ release in the Adult Information Management System (AIMS)

  • Coordinates and processes documents for inmate transports and parole hearings

  • Answers phones and responds to inquiries

  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

  • Drives on State business

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):Knowledge of:

  • Interpreting legal documentation

  • Record management and auditing procedures

  • Business English, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation

  • Operation of office equipment including copiers, faxes, and telephones

  • Computer usage and various software programs

Skill in:

  • Written and verbal communication

  • Building and maintaining interpersonal relationships

  • Customer service

  • Monitoring accuracy of offender records and documents

  • Researching, collecting, and formatting information

Ability to:

  • Work in a prison environment

  • Learn and use AIMS

  • Perform complex mathematical calculations

  • Learn and adhere department policies and procedures

  • Learn and adhere to State statutes pertaining to release of information

  • Work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities

SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S):
Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).


SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):


  • Experience interpreting court documents and legal terminology

  • Previous experience with AIMS

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and drug test*.

RETIREMENT:
Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
