This is a part-time, less than 29 hours per week, hourly position. The part-time 911 Dispatcher is responsible for maintaining liaison between police officers and the department, police officers and the public, the public and other emergency personnel. Responsible for maintaining and responding to a variety of computerized records systems. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to handle stressful, sometimes critical situations. This position requires working various shifts as assigned with some mandatory extended shifts and overtime work; day, evening, and midnight shifts, holiday and weekend work is required. Duties include but are not limited to: Answers 911 and non-emergency calls, including fire and EMS calls Utilizes LEADS/NCIC computer terminals to make various inquiries, entries, cancellations, or modifications of wanted persons, stolen property, missing persons, as well as caution file alerts and officer safety alert information Maintains radio log; and Serves as emergency and/or after hours contact for the water plant, City and Township Street Departments, and Animal Control. The minimum requirements of this position are as follows: High School diploma or equivalent; three years experience in law enforcement support services or similar field. LEADS Certification, 911 Certification. Previous experience in the use of computers. |
