District Court - Administrative Office of PA Courts - Meadville, PA





This is an administrative support position responsible for assisting the District Court Administrator with the administration and daily operation of the Crawford County Court of Common Pleas. Work is performed independently under the direction of the District Court Administrator.

Primary Duties


  • Reviews filings and schedules all routine matters for hearing and/or argument before the Court.

  • Prepares daily and weekly court schedule; collects and reviews files/papers for the Court prior to hearing/argument.

  • Reviews adoption petitions, contacts attorneys and pro se litigants for changes consistent with state and local rules for presentation to the Court.

  • Develops annual court calendar and schedule, and county directory.

  • Develops and maintains appropriate manual, and computer files and databases in connection with criminal and civil trial lists.

  • Arranges video conferencing with State Correctional Facilities as well as the County Jail as necessary.

  • Provides administrative support to Magisterial District Judges, court departments, and visiting Senior Judges.

  • Facilitates relationships with records offices, identifying workable solutions to procedural and operational issues.

  • Drafts orders, forms and correspondence as necessary.

  • Answers/screens telephone and office inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; AND

  • Three years of clerical or secretarial experience in a legal, judicial, or government setting.

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and / or experience may be considered.

Additional Requirements/Preferences

  • Paralegal certificate or relevant legal training/experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of legal terminology preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel) required.

  • Ability to interact professionally and appropriately with the public, courthouse personnel and the legal community required.

  • Ability to recognize, analyze and solve problems creatively required; attention to detail required.

  • Satisfactory criminal background check required.
