Administrative Assistant - Dept of Transportation - Franklin City, VA





This position is located at the Franklin Residency at 23116 Meherrin Road, Courtland, VA. This is an hourly/wage position and is limited to 1500 hours within a 12-month period/average 29 hours per week. This position is not eligible for the state benefit package. The Hampton Roads District is seeking a motivated Administrative Assistant to provide administrative and technical support to the Area Land Use Engineer for the Franklin Residency. This position coordinates work flow processes, represents the manager through internal and external contacts, maintains sensitivity and a working knowledge of organizational and work group situations, and responds routinely to a variety of requests from agency management, board members, government officials, external organizations, consultants and the general public. Ensures documentation is submitted in an accurate, neat and timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience applying office business practices and principles. Ability to compile, coordinate and prepare reports. Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues appropriately. Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include Microsoft Office. Skill in providing and promoting good customer service to internal and external customers. Skill in filing and document management.


Preferred Qualifications

High school graduate as a minimum; preferred associate degree in Business administration, or equivalent experience working in a professional environment.


Special Requirements

DMV records check by the Department is required. This position requires a fingerprint based criminal history background check.
