Deals with the public regarding motor vehicle licenses and registration, driver”s licenses and state identification cards, farm class vehicles, recreational vehicle registrations and various hunting, and fishing licenses. Provides the appropriate reports to the various state agencies. Provides information to state enforcement officials.
Processes a wide variety of licenses: driver”s license, motor vehicle, farm class vehicles game and fish, boat and snowmobile license applications for the general public, dealers and dealerships.
Processes applications for titles, plates, special plates, transfer of Motor Vehicle ownership.
Processes applications for drivers license permits.
Conduct eye screening, take photos, and maintain photo imager.
Interprets state regulations to determine eligibility of license applicants and verifies if applicants meet these requirements.
Prepares and submits reports covering all motor vehicle transactions, drivers” license transactions, boat, snowmobile and ATV for several different reporting systems.
Reconciles financial reports and distributes cash receipts appropriately.
Knowledgeable in preparation of all DOT forms
Answers questions from the public presented over the telephone or in person on all license regulations, driving status, revocations, requirements and must understand the process for each driving class.
Maintains office filing systems.
Maintains Title Clerk Certification and MN Licensing and Registration (MNLars).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Education, Experience and Skills Required – Graduation from high school plus 2 years of relevant experience in accounting/business setting or one year post secondary schooling with an emphasis in business management and computer skills.
At least two years of recent related office experience involving accounting and general business operations which include the following skills and abilities:
Ability to operate general office equipment including proven proficiency in common office suite applications on a computer.
Ability to plan, organize and perform general clerical and office activities.
Ability to understand and implement motor vehicle directives and regulations, make decisions regarding validity of certain papers presented.
Accuracy, tact, confidentiality, and honesty are necessary.
Ability to work under stress when work load becomes heavy.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and have good public relations and customer service skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. The ability to work with all types of people and personalities.

Physical Requirements: The position has good working conditions in general, but is a diversified job requiring sustained mental effort related to organizational issues, planning and technical areas.
The individual may encounter moderate emotional strain or tension. There is sustained exposure to sitting and standing. There is continuous exposure to computer keyboards and video screens and moderate exposure to lifting up to 40 pounds. This position may encounter customers who are angry or irate because of the nature of some of the work performed in the department. $14.31 – $20.77
