Admissions Clerk job - Olmsted Medical Center - Rochester, MN
This position is responsible for greeting, registering, and admitting patients. They work cooperatively with internal and external departments, clinicians, nursing staff, care areas, and insurance carriers. Assure quality services are provided through achieving OMC’s goals and objectives.
Job Responsibilities: ·
Registers Emergency and Urgent Care patients promptly and accurately.
·
Creates accounts for all hospital-admitted patients.
·
Contacts patient’s health insurance to obtain benefits and certify inpatient stays.
·
Answers incoming phone calls and directs them to the appropriate areas.
·
Greets patients and family members and directs them to the appropriate areas
·
Maintains all accounts for patients at the hospital for appointments.
·
Sorts and distributes mail.
·
Maintains cash drawer.
·
Calls in surgical crew after hours if needed.
·
Completes email requests.
·
Brings forth new ideas and suggestions to their supervisor.
·
Other duties as assigned
·
High School Diploma or equivalent required
·
Excellent computer skills required
·
Medical background preferred
·
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
·
Ability to effectively prioritize
·
Effective problem-solving skills
·
Actively participates and promotes “team” concept
·
Scheduling flexibility to cover for absences (vacation, sick leaves, etc.)
