The best qualified candidates will possess the following:
- A general knowledge of books, media, and other print and electronic resources available in a library;
- An understanding of how libraries are organized and used;
- An understanding of children and their developmental needs;
- Experience developing programs for youth, teens and their parents;
- Ability to conduct story hour;
- Work as a team player;
- Be creative and enthusiastic;
- Have excellent customer service skills; and
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Under the direction of the Senior Librarian, the successful candidate will provide assistance to library customers by telephone, e-mail and in person; provide instruction to customers in library use; assist customers with Internet, electronic database, and computer; assist in the location and retrieval of information; develop, manage and maintain collection, display and merchandise library materials; and develop/support various forms of programming to youth, pre-school to pre-teen.
Education Requirement :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a related field.

Physical Conditions:
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for moderate or light lifting; sitting, walking, pushing, reaching, bending, squatting or standing for prolonged periods of time.
Job Preferences
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following additional education and experience:
- Coursework in education or early childhood development and two (2) years of work related experience with children ages preschool through eighth grade;
- Library work experience;
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish);
- Master’s Degree in Library Science.
Conditions of Employment
