Our client, based in Watford, is recruiting for a Network and Wireless Engineering Manager on a permanent basis.
Role: Network and Wireless Engineering Manager
Salary: up to £45,000 per annum + £4,200 car allowance
Location: Watford
Position Summary:
The Network Engineer, Wireless Networking, is primarily responsible for the architecture and engineering of wireless networks supporting all corporate office locations. Position is also responsible for HSIA technical standards and strategic technical roadmap with HSIA vendors and internal HSIA team. This position will also allow engineers to work with other technologies including VoIP, Video Collaboration, LAN/WAN and Firewalls.
Responsibilities
- Design and architecture of wireless corporate networks. Works with network support vendor to execute our designs and meet SLA’s
- Continually updates technical standards and strategic technical roadmaps for both Corporate Wireless and HSIA
- Executes initiatives through the standard methodology from project approval to deployment
- Executes new projects through project initiation, architecture, requirements analysis, design, project management and systems integration phases
- Responsible for all aspects of wireless network engineering, policies, and operations
- Develop and implement network routing policies to optimize wireless performance across corporate locations
- Coordinate with Facilities to optimize wireless signal propagation and coverage
- Develop operating metrics for all elements of the corporate wireless environment and actively manage network vendor performance
- Secondary role as Cisco Telepresence/Video Conferencing engineer
- Backup role working with LAN/WAN and Firewall teams (Many Wireless changes will require LAN/WAN and Firewall changes)
Experience Required
- Significant experience of wireless network engineering and operations
- Network engineering experience with BGP, OSPF, GigE, MPLS, VPN, SNMP, Cisco Nexus and IOS, and Juniper Junos, and 802.11x technologies
- Cisco and HP network systems including switches and WAN technologies
- Experience of remote implementations
- Network concept and design experience
- Technical documentation for training and reference of staff
- Education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or Science or experience in lieu thereof
- Strong communication skills – all company levels including technical and non-technical staff
- Excellent co-ordination and organisational skills
Beneficial Experience
- Preference for advanced degree
- Knowledge of hotel-based IT systems and applications
- Advanced certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CWNA, CWNP, etc.
