DEFINITION


To remove coins from municipal parking meters using City-owned equipment, and to transport collected monies to prescribed locations, following proper security procedures.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED


General supervision is provided by the Parking Meter Repair Supervisor.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES


Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Collect and transport monies from City parking meters, following an assigned route.

Deposit coins collected in a prescribed bank or other secure location.

Perform minor or routine maintenance and repair on meters in the field as necessary.

Maintain proper records on defective meters and damaged equipment.

Respond to public inquiries in a courteous, tactful manner.

Perform surveys for map and record updates on the locations of parking meters.

Assist in the cleaning and replacement of meters as required.

Perform related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:Safe work practices. Ability to:
Perform assigned duties on foot, sometimes in inclement weather conditions.

Learn streets and meter locations within the City.

Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Respond tactfully and courteously to public inquiries and complaints.

Operate collection and parking meter equipment with some mechanical dexterity.

Keep and maintain routine records, logs, and reports.

Perform assigned duties with a significant degree of independence. Experience and Education :


Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be some experience in a public setting involving the handling of cash.


SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS


Driver License :
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License at the time of appointment. Loss of the Class C License is cause for discipline. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to physical disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.


THE SELECTION PROCEDURE:
1. Application: (Pass/Fail) – All applicants must complete and submit online a City of Sacramento employment application by the final filing deadline ( 5:00 pm on Friday, March 11, 2016 );

Employment applications will be considered incomplete and will be disqualified:

If applicants do not list current and/or past job-related experience in the “Work Experience” section. Note: Qualifying experience is based on 40 paid hours per week (pro-rated if less than 40 hours/week) .

If “see resume” is noted in the “Work Experience” section; a resume will not substitute for the information required in the “Work Experience” section. 2. Supplemental Questionnaire: (Pass/Fail) – In addition to the City of Sacramento employment application, all applicants must complete and submit online responses to the supplemental questionnaire to the City of Sacramento Employment Office by the final filing deadline;

Responses to the supplemental questionnaire must be submitted online; paper questionnaire will not be accepted.

Incomplete supplemental questionnaire will not pass the review process; omitted information cannot be considered or assumed.

A resume will not substitute for the information required in the supplemental questionnaire.

Possession of the minimum qualifications is not necessarily a guarantee of further advancement in the selection process. 3. Screening Committee : (Pass/Fail)– Human Resources will evaluate employment applications for the minimum qualifications stated on the job announcement.

4. Conviction Questionnaire : Human Resources will notify qualified candidates by email to complete and submit the “Conviction Questionnaire.” The notification will provide each candidate with instructions on how to “sign in” to his/her NeoGov account run through GovernmentJobs website and retrieve the “Conviction Questionnaire.” Promptly follow the instructions and respond to the questionnaire by the deadline specified . Failure to complete this step will result in your application not being forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.


5. Interview Process : Human Resources will forward qualified applications to the hiring department. Those determined to be the MOST QUALIFIED candidates will be invited to participate in an interview process. A hiring interview is not guaranteed. An eligible list will not be established, as positions are relief/temporary.
