Paying between £9.00-£12.00 depending on experience
The main duties and responsibilities
Typing of clinic letters for Consultants and Registrar, using Infoflex database, discharge summaries and admin letters from tapes.
Pathology and blood results should be filed in appropriate boxes daily, making sure urgent results are shown to Consultant as soon as possible.
Obtaining patient’s notes from Medical Records and then using Clinicom to track notes.
Ensure that laboratory results, X-rays, letters and other records are filed accurately.
To keep Consultant’s diary and arrange meetings when required.
To deal sympathetically and confidentially, via telephone enquiries or face to face, with patients, GPs, medical staff, nursing staff and Hospital departments etc. Queries can occasionally be distressing/emotional circumstances.
To liase with other Secretaries, Wards, Clinic Clerks and other departments to help ensure a smooth and efficient service.
To make outpatient appointments using Clinicom.
To access the Choose & Book appointment system and print off referral letters for approval by Consultant before accepting the appointment.
To arrange for cancellation of Consultant’s clinics for annual leave, study leave, etc.
To co-ordinate fortnightly histopathology meetings, which includes manual collection of notes, arranging for slides and manual delivery of such to meeting place.
To co-ordinate Joint Monthly Clinical Meetings which includes manual collection of notes, informing patients via letter and delivery of notes to actual clinic on relevant day.
To make sure photographs are filed in patient’s notes and sent to patient when requested.
General office procedures commensurate with a secretarial post, including photocopying, filing, sending and sorting post, sending facsimiles and Emails, creating and maintaining spreadsheets.
Any other ad hoc duties as may be requested by your Manager/Consultant.
