As a Information Receptionist
typical work assignments include:
Sells admission tickets and accepts payment following
admissions policy guidelines. Under close supervision, and in accordance
with prescribed steps and procedures, closes out cash registers and counts
receipts to ensure reconciliation at end of each shift.
Answers the front desk phone line and refers callers to
library/museum staff as necessary. Provides general information regarding
the surrounding area, programs, events and exhibits to visitors, attendees
and support staff. Provides the customer with consistent information
according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and
problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
Performs a variety of basic clerical work in support of
the Library/Museum/Foundation staff as necessary. Such tasks may entail
maintaining supply of and /or distribution of handouts, brochures,
pamphlets, and other printed materials relative to the Library and Museum
activities and matters of tourist attraction and interest. Performs light
filing, basic data entry to update status logs, and other light
administrative duties. Under close supervision, monitors visitor
attendance records. Assures that records are properly input, ticketed, and
categorized by admission type.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
GS-02 – Candidates must have three months of general experience.
General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work
that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to
perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Education may be substituted for
experience, GS-02 – High School graduation or equivalent.
