Chemonics seeks a manager to join its Corporate Partnerships Practice. The manager will contribute to the vision and direction of the practice and support the growth of the company’s portfolio of corporate-funded social investment and environmental sustainability programs. Established in 2014, the Corporate Partnerships Practice also aims to identify private sector partnerships that enhance Chemonics’ portfolio of USAID-funded projects. The manager will cultivate and maintain relationships with key corporate counterparts, actively work to strengthen Chemonics internal and external networks around private partnerships, contribute to strategic communications, proposal development and contract management, and perform assignments directly on behalf of corporate clients. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial and creative, versatile, a strong communicator, and a team player. They must demonstrate a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
• Provides input and support to the continued growth of the Corporate Partnerships Practice mission, mandate, and growth strategy.
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with prospective clients, partners, competitors, and consultants.
• Actively identifies opportunities with potential private sector and other nontraditional development partners and fosters relationships to generate new business opportunities for new and existing projects.
• Conducts technical, management, or administrative assignments in the U.S. or overseas for Chemonics’ corporate clients
• Supports Regional Business Units and project management and proposal teams in their efforts to identify and foster private sector partnerships for our portfolio of USAID projects and proposals.
• Represents Chemonics at conferences, industry events, and forums. Contributes to the evolving industry dialogue on the intersection of international development and corporate social responsibility.
• Researches and synthesizes information on Chemonics capabilities, best practices and lessons learned.
• Develops marketing materials and messaging in collaboration with the Strategic Communications and Knowledge team.
• Mentors and promotes the professional development of Chemonics staff across the company in areas relevant to the Practice.
• Provides relevant technical support to Chemonics’ USAID-funded projects, particularly in building and managing public-private partnerships and Global Development Alliances.
• Supervises the daily activities and professional development of the Corporate Partnerships associate(s).
• Fosters and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation and exceeding expectations.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required (corporate social responsibility, environmental management, sustainability, corporate partnerships, fundraising, or other relevant field)
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; advanced degree preferred.
• Familiarity with trends within USAID and the development community at large, specifically related to the role of the private sector.
• Knowledge of corporate social responsibility trends and best practices.
• Experience contributing to proposal development and new business efforts, ideally within Chemonics systems.
• Language proficiency in Spanish and French a plus.
• Willingness to travel and work abroad a minimum of 4-8 weeks per year; experience living or working in developing countries.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
• Flexible, open to change, and a strong supporter of change management.
• Demonstrated success building teams and staff capacity.
• Proven ability to work within a team and a strong respect for others.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills. Comfortable with mentoring and networking.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
