The HIMS Receptionist is responsible for establishing a positive impression of Kaiser Permanente with both external members, visitors, customers and internal customers in person and over the telephone. Uses good judgment in difficult situations and quickly formulates plan of action. Displays skills to work independently.
Minimum Education: HS Diploma or Equivalent
Top 3-5 Required Skills:
1. Two (2) years of experience with customer contact, receptionist or telecommunications position.
2. Word processing experience with typing skills of thirty five (35) – forty (40) words per minute.
3. Effective communication skills to interface diplomatically and effectively with all levels of people internally and externally.
4. Ability to diffuse difficult/stressful situations and to handle multiple tasks at one time
Top 3-5 Daily Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates, in depth, operational knowledge of each HIMS area by analyzing caller needs and appropriately referring them to the correct area. Evaluates phone calls and callers; furnishes available and authorized information; refers callers to other individuals as appropriate. Maintains customer service focus even in stressful situations. Ensures each call is taken to a point of resolution within the assigned performance standard.
2. Reads memorandums, newsletters, and other distributed information to keep abreast of changes that impact members and our business with member services, purchasing, claims, referrals, telecommunications, etc. Conducts in-service training to alternates who substitute for the incumbent.
Provides support to HIMS administration area as business need is identified.
Desired Skills:
1. Associate’s degree in health information, health administration, business or other related discipline or education/experience combined. (Preferred)
2. One (1) year of minimum documented release of information experience
