Administrative Assistant - Coastal Evaluation Center - State of South Carolina - Dorchester County, SC





Under limited supervision, plans and directs administrative, advisory, consultative and support activities for the Coastal Evaluation Center. Plans, directs, and manages the administrative and/or support functions of the Facility Administrator and Coastal Evaluation Center. Performs and/or provides assistance to the Facility Administrator and makes appropriate recommendations. Reviews incoming and outgoing correspondence, documents and other materials for the Facility Administrator and makes appropriate recommendations. Maintains Policy and Procedure training checklists and assists in the development of Agency and/or institutional policies and procedures. Assists with management of the Coastal Evaluation Center budget. Assists in the development and administration of special projects, analyzes data and prepares technical reports. Provides direct supervision and reviews performance of subordinates. Ensures that the Coastal Evaluation Center Administrator is informed of issues incurred regarding Intake and Word Processing. Maintains the upkeep and day to day functioning of Coastal Evaluation Center office equipment to include troubleshooting.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years responsible clerical/secretarial/administrative experience; or high school diploma and 6 years years responsible clerical/secretarial/administrative experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
Requires considerable knowledge of principles/practices of public/business administration, functions/organizations and laws/regulations governing DJJ; working knowledge of accounting principles/practices. Must have the ability to exercise discretion in interpreting/applying established departmental policies/procedures; ability to plan/assign/review work of others; ability to initiate/install administrative procedures and evaluates effectiveness; ability to understand/carry out complex oral/written instructions. Must have thorough knowledge of modern office procedures/practices/equipment.
