Department Overview:
Pact exists to help create a world where those who are poor and marginalized exercise their voice, build their own solutions, and take ownership of their future. The Program Advancement Department, contributes to realizing this purpose by:
• Learning, leveraging, and thought leadership for Pact’s core technical areas
• Ensuring quality programming through technical support and monitoring
• Contributing to innovative program design, monitoring and evaluation
Position Purpose:
The position will support the Capacity Development team within Program Advancement. S/he will learn about Pact’s capacity development approaches, tools and materials. S/he will work closely with the Capacity Development team and will be asked to perform discrete tasks. The Intern will report to the Capacity Development Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to HQ Capacity Development initiatives:
• Catalogue existing capacity development materials, including assessments, training modules, mentoring guides, etc which exist within HQ and in field offices.
• Collect success stories / case studies from field programs on their use of organizational capacity assessments, network analysis, performance indexes, capacity development gold standards, CD Marketplaces, network strengthening, and mentoring.
• Review existing capacity development Handbooks and update with case studies / success stories, graphics, and appropriate Pact branding.
• Develop a rollout strategy and support implementation of strategy of revised Handbooks, including publication on Pact’s internal and external websites and virtual training.
• Support the development of a Government Performance Index Guide which includes results of reliability study, research and documentation of the development of the Index, and user experience.
• Compile scores from Pact’s global Capacity Development Gold Standards.
• Support the finalization of the Network and Systems Strengthening Module including the development of appropriate graphics, inclusion of relevant and recent case studies / success stories drawn from Pact’s field programs, formatting, and copy editing.
Basic Requirements:
• Ability to establish and sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with Pact staff in overseas offices
• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
• Excellent written and oral communications
• Knowledge of capacity development tools and approaches
• Experience implementing international development programming in low income country for at least 2 years
Preferred Qualifications:
• International experience working with health, education, governance, vulnerable children and youth, or economic programming
• Pursuing a Master’s degree in International Development
