United States of America: Business Development Intern


Crown Agents USA, Inc. (CA-USA) is seeking a Business Development Intern for the Food Security and Monitoring & Evaluation Practice located in our Washington, D.C. office.

Since its incorporation in the United States in 1998, CA-USA has provided technical assistance services and support to U.S. Government agencies and international organizations such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), Department of State (DOS), and the Gates Foundation.


Role & Responsibilities


As a CA-USA Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, build your network, and acquire hands-on knowledge in one or more of the following areas according to area of placement: government contracting, international development, business development, human resources, supply chain management, monitoring and evaluation, food security, economic growth and trade, public financial management, and/or health systems strengthening. Specific duties will vary by division and placement.


General duties include but are not limited to the following:


  • Undertake research and contribute to reports, papers, and presentations

  • Attend meetings and briefings; prepare meeting notes as required

  • Aid the department or practice area in special projects

  • Provide administrative support on an as needed basis

  • Other activities as assigned by the department or practice area

Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:


Conduct research and analysis in support of the Crown Agents USA Food Security and M&E Practice Area. Specifically, review and analyze approximately 100 reports to collect data towards completion of a new business opportunity capture plan.


Qualifications


  • Active degree enrollment through an accredited college or university required; graduates considered for summer internships up to 6 months post-graduation

  • Excellent communication, research, writing, and organizational skills

  • Interest, academic studies, or previous work experience focused on international development, international affairs, business administration, or a related field desired

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Organized, motivated, and responsible individual

· Strong research and analytical skills


· Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills


· Familiarity with or desire to learn business development concepts within an international development context preferred
