Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Description This position is located in the Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) division of Austin Travis County Integral Care, the Local IDD Authority for Travis County. The START Coordinator is the first point of contact for clients and the c o m munity to access START Service. Coordinators link service providers with those nee ding support and works to improve the functioning of existing service elements in the community for individuals with comorbid IDD and severe mental illness (SMI) or behavioral challenges that may put community placement at risk. Minimum of 2 years working with person’s with IDD and behavioral health challenges. . Experience in working with systems of care who support individuals with IDD and behavioral health challenges.
Pri m ary Responsibilities: Reading and writing skills required to effectively complete START Resource Center documentation requirements.
Provide guests at START Resource Center the highest quality of care and service.
Assist START Resource Center director and other staff to help maintain effective, positive and quality operations of START Resource Center.
Assist guests to achieve personal goals; work on behalf of guests to overcome barriers; respect guests personal beliefs, choices and interests.
Provide appropriate care and assistance to promote good health; help guests receive medical care and communicate with medical professionals; record information regarding health events, conditions and status; provide first aid/CPR and seek emergency medical care when needed.
Assist guests with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing and toileting; assist guests with mobility including lifting them from a seated or lying down position, help them walk and maintain stability.
Assist guests to develop skills as planned by the START Resource Center program.
Serve as a role model and mentor, demonstrate desired behaviors, and coach guests using approved techniques and strategies; use approved physical intervention techniques when necessary to protect guests and others.
Maintain cleanliness of program; drive company or own vehicle to transport guests in the community.
Follow all policies and procedures
Act in a professional manner and communicate effectively with other.
Complete training programs; attend required meetings.
Hours : Sunday-Wednesday 10:00PM-8:30AM. Note: This position will remain open until filled.
