Communicating with Guests, Students, Faculty, Staff, and Dominican Sisters is the main responsibility of the Welcome and Information Desk ( WID ) Agent, which includes handling phone operations, and face-to-face interactions. This position is ideal for someone who has a passion for guest service, values problem resolution, and enjoys working in a fast paced environment. The WID agent is not only the go to person for all questions and information regarding university offices and campus events, but the first point of contact for guests and visitors of Dominican University. Thus, your role as an agent will be vital in creating a positive Dominican experience.
1. Responsible for answering and handling all calls from the University switchboard.
2. Welcome, assist, and direct all Guests, Students, Faculty, Staff, and Dominican Sisters with a professional, gracious, and pleasant demeanor.
3. Be knowledgeable of university offices, campus geography, and events on campus.
4. Responsible for checking “When To Work.com” daily, WID’s official student scheduling online software.
5. Manage the bikeDU program, and other special projects with accuracy and accountability.
6. Responsible for understanding and executing all policies and procedures in the Welcome and Information Desk handbook.
7. Perform and participate in other WID duties assigned or delegated by the leadership team such as shift summary reports, and various administrative tasks.
8. Attend WID student & staff meetings and other training modules.
9. Dress Code: WID performance apparel will be provided.
10. Desk hours needed:
Main + Priory Campus:
Mon/Wed/Fri, 11 a.m. to 3p.m.;
- Students MUST be available to work on Saturday and occasionally on Sundays for Special Events / ELS Move-in on campus.
- Students are responsible for finding their own replacement if needed.
- Prefer Federal Work Study Students

1. Excellent communication and listening skills.
2. Confident in speaking with Guests, Students, Faculty, Staff, and Sisters.
3. Self-motivated / proactive, ability to multi-task, work independently and problem-solve.
4. Ability to successfully work collaboratively with people at all levels and peers.
5. Ability to work independently but collaboratively.
6. Creativity (graphic design / art background is a plus).
7. Tech-friendly and can support software tools utilized by the WID .
