Starting Salary: $33, 928
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK:
Performs intermediate administrative work transporting items throughout the County; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Building Maintenance Superintendent.
This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, reaching, walking, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:
Picking up and delivering mail, supplies and materials; preparing and maintaining records.
Collects transports and delivers mail, supplies, other materials and documents;
Collects transports and delivers court documents and files to various departments;
Distributes monthly Council agenda packets;
Transports inmates to County Jail at the end of the work day;
Delivers a variety of items, supplies and other materials;
Schedule routine and daily maintenance for vehicle;
Performs related tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Some knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; some knowledge of business mathematics; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; basic knowledge of filing and signing post office documents; ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with associates, and public; ability to operate light automotive vehicles safely.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some semiskilled maintenance work experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of South Carolina.
