Duties include:
1) Inspecting, operating, and monitoring equipment used in the production of electricity
2) Placing and removing Operating Systems from service as required
3) Performing daily routine operations
4) Tagging equipment in and out of service for maintenance activities and valve operations
5) Performing preventive maintenance and inspections
6) Troubleshooting equipment and system conditions that impact station performance
7) Making entries into computer-based logbooks.
8) Responsible for the upkeep of the plant and the property. Including, but not limited to: painting, housekeeping, mowing, etc.
The Operator Trainee works a 12-hour rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must have availability to work overtime.
A valid driver’s license is required.
The starting pay rate is $22.88
Job Qualifications
Required:
Must be a self-starter who takes initiative and is willing and able to work indoors or outdoors in inclement weather and in a hot, noisy, and dusty environment;
Proven written and oral communication skills and attention to details;
Good physical ability and agility;
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds;
Ability to climb wearing appropriate safety gear;
75% of the time the job requires the employee to stand, sit, walk, carry, bend, crawl, reach, squat, climb (stairs, ladders) and to push/pull with arms, legs, and body;
A valid driver’s license is required.
Strongly Preferred:
Mechanical, electrical, and/or technical aptitude strongly preferred
Basic computer knowledge of MS Office applications
Education Required
High School diploma or GED
Testing Required (If none listed, no tests are required)
This job requires recommended test results from the EEI Plant Operators Selection System (POSS) aptitude test, administered on site during the pre-employment process.

The Operator Trainee frequently works at heights with open grating floors and works in hot and cold seasonal conditions inside and outside the station.
