St. Louis County Public Health and Human Services Department (Duluth, MN) is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant I in the Income Maintenance Division.

Performs professional work in the administration and supervision of income maintenance programs, interprets rules and regulations, supervises staff performing program eligibility work, reviews case records, develops new procedures and policies, and performs related work.


Examples of Duties:


• Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of one or more service units in social services/human services agency.

• Proposes forms and prepares reports and correspondence.

• Prepares and keeps records and supervises the preparation and maintenance of such records.

• Develops new procedures for operating units and supervises and trains employees during installation of the procedures.

• Coordinates special projects as assigned and is responsible for organizing these projects and implementing procedures as assigned.

• Represents the agency at meetings and conferences with other agencies and/or individuals about areas of joint participation or concern.

• Plans, organizes, and conducts orientation and special groups sessions as assigned.

• Participates in agency programs in orienting new staff.

• Performs consultative services for other agency staff.


Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, business administration or closely related field and four years of experience as a social worker or work in the administration of income maintenance programs.


Examination Process:


The examination will consist entirely of a rating of education and experience.
