GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Under supervision incumbents in this class performs detailed and responsible clerical duties; process legal actions, schedules and coordinates all administrative hearings, maintains department records, interprets regulations related to office procedures for the legal department, provides administrative support to Director of Government Affairs and Policy and performs related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education, experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills. A typical way, but not the only way to obtain these would be:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with coursework in secretarial services, communications, business administration, or related field.

  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible secretarial or administrative experience, preferably involving elected bodies or commissions.

  • Fluency in Chinese, Russian, Spanish or Vietnamese highly desirable.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS-


  • Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) certification or equivalent.

  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California driver’s license by time of appointment.

Sensitivity to and experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse individuals, communities, agencies and organizations which comprise the constituency of the San Francisco Housing Authority.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
The incumbent must possess a working knowledge of the legal forms; documents and terminology; legal office procedures and practices; applicable statutory laws, codes, and procedures; principals and procedures of basic record keeping; clerical procedures involved in the processing of legal reports.


The incumbent must possess the ability to prepare legal documents from general instructions; organize and maintain detailed legal files and records; interpret legal codes pertaining to the operations of the legal department; prepare and maintain important operational records and simple typing.


SELECTION PLAN
Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be administered an examination that may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that evaluate, knowledge, skill, ability or qualifications. Applicants must pass each phase of the process to be placed on the list that will be used to fill vacancies. Vacancies will be filled in the job classification pursuant to the rule of three during the next nine (9) months. The Authority may without notice, change or eliminate any particular assessment component or combination of components as the needs of the Agency dictate. Employment offers are contingent upon documentation of the right to work in the United States and a criminal record check.
